Easy Financing and Insurance
At Southern Maine Orthodontics, we believe high-quality orthodontic care should be clear, accessible, and manageable for every family. Our team takes time to explain payment options, insurance benefits, and what to expect financially, so there are no surprises along the way.
We’ll review everything with you during your complimentary consultation and help you choose the option that fits your needs and budget.
What Payment Options Are Available?
We offer several flexible payment options to make orthodontic treatment easier to plan for:
- A 3% courtesy when paying in full by cash or check on the day braces are placed
- A family courtesy discount is available when more than one family member is in treatment at the same time
- Interest-free, in-house financing, which includes a down payment at the start of treatment and monthly payments throughout treatment
- Payment by Visa, Mastercard, or Discover
Our team is always happy to review these options and help you decide what works best for your family.
What Does Orthodontic Treatment Cost?
Treatment costs vary based on the type and complexity of care recommended. At Southern Maine Orthodontics, typical ranges include:
- Limited orthodontic treatment starting as low as $3,060
- Comprehensive orthodontic treatment up to $7,760
- Invisalign and clear aligner treatment starting as low as $3,060
Down payments may start as low as $500, with monthly payments starting around $100, depending on your treatment plan and payment arrangement.
Exact costs are reviewed in detail during your consultation so you can make an informed decision with confidence.
How Does Orthodontic Insurance Work?
Orthodontic insurance is different from standard dental insurance, and understanding the basics can help avoid confusion during treatment.
Orthodontic benefits are separate from dental benefits and typically cover a percentage of treatment costs, often around 50%. These benefits are subject to a lifetime maximum, rather than an annual renewal, and age limits or waiting periods may apply.
Insurance claims are submitted once braces, appliances, or aligners are placed. Payments are usually distributed over the course of treatment rather than issued as a single payment. Insurance coverage must remain active throughout treatment to receive the full benefit. If coverage changes or ends, any remaining balance becomes the patient’s responsibility.
We accept direct payment from insurance carriers and finance the remaining balance in our office.
